IMPORTANT IRS Tax Deadlines - 2025 Filing Season

2025 tax season is officially upon us. Employers are beginning to send out W-2’s, contractors are receiving 1099s, brokerage and banks are sending out 1099s for capital gains and interest, and mortgage 1098 forms are being received. Below is a quick summary of all the major IRS deadline as of 01/11/2026, including extension deadlines.

Date the IRS begins accepting and processing individual federal 1040 Returns: January 26th, 2026

Date the IRS will being accepting business returns for e-filing: January 13th, 2026.

Date individual federal tax returns (1040) due without extensions: April 15th 2026 (on a Wednesday this year).

Date individual federal tax returns (1040) due with extensions: October 15th 2026 (on a Thursday this year)

Date 1120-S (S-Corps) and 1065 (Partnerships) are due without extension: March 16th 2026

Date 1120-S (S-Corps) and 1065 (Partnerships) are due with extension: September 15th 2026

Date 1120 (Corps) and 1041 (Estates) are due without extension: April 15th 2026.

Date 1120 (Corps) and 1041 (Estates) are due with extension: October 15th 2026.

Date 1099's are required to be submitted: January 31st, 2026 (good luck everyone).

Date W-2s are required to be submitted: February 2nd, 2026.

Don't pay extra penalties and fees for missing any of these deadlines. If you are not going to have all your information by March 16th or April 15th issue an extension and also make sure your CPA makes an estimated payment as well.
